Editorial policy

We aim for careful, readable coverage that helps readers understand design without overstating what an object, image or space can tell us. Accuracy, context and transparent corrections matter more than a confident-sounding claim.

Accuracy and context

We check names, dates, materials and descriptions against reliable information available to us, and take care to separate established facts from interpretation. Where context is uncertain or readings differ, we say so rather than presenting one account as the only one. Readers can use the Contact page to flag a possible error; we review substantiated corrections and update material when warranted.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial choices are made for their relevance to the subject and readers, not because a product or organisation has asked for coverage. Paid, gifted or partner-supported material is identified clearly where it appears. A commercial relationship does not guarantee favourable editorial coverage or control over independent editorial decisions.

Images and illustrations

Images are chosen to support the subject and are not presented as evidence of an object or place unless that is what they depict. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; when used, they are identified as illustrations and not as documentary photographs.

Corrections

If you believe a detail is inaccurate or missing important context, write through the Contact page and include the article title and the point at issue. We review correction requests and make changes when needed, with the aim of keeping the account clear and fair.

Our point of view

Design makes the world legible

A small detail can tell a bigger story about use, place and culture. We slow down to notice the choices behind designed things.
